Abstract: Nowadays business applications are no more stand alone and they are distributed across different platforms. Generally these enterprise applications are processing a huge volume of data and those are developed as interconnected components, communicate with each other. These components are interacting with each other and databases or data warehouse. In addition to that those systems are integrated with different systems externally and require communicating with external systems. This requires a high level of integration and the next level of enterprise application integration is business webs. Interoperability is the key requirement of this and Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) plays a vital role here. Web Services are an integral part of service oriented architecture. With the recent developments in service orientation and web services, RESTful web services are playing a promising role. RESTful web services can be readily available for implementing service orientation across enterprise applications. This paper discusses the aspects of using RESTful web services when implementing service oriented architecture.
