Abstract: We are currently dwelling in an era of rapid globalization where the world seems small in the face of technology and human interactions constitute diversity, which has never been seen before. Authors have realized in an effort to reach out, human interactions have become, far less reaching in. Current social networking trends are based on the ‘cloud’ which enable people to interact with distant friends, colleagues and peers. Internet with its applicability has revolutionized how people communicate and keep-in-touch with each other. This very phenomenon has overshadowed the importance of getting to know the people around us. In this endeavour authors constructed an intelligent, independent, wireless device along with three applications for three different platforms - Android, Windows and Symbian which would supplement current social networking trends. This device and the applications enhanced with the questionnaire will form ad-hoc social networks and enable users to search people of similar personalities. Authors believe the device as well as the applications can be used in a wide variety of environments such as conferences, colleges, public restaurants, and etc. to encourage users to get to know the people around them.
